About Making Wakes
This second novel in the author's three book series entitled Expect Miracles, picks up a few months after the end of the first novel Unexpected Life.
It reintroduces some of the major characters in the first story but then focuses on some of the first novel's more minor characters especially Rene and his sister's best friend Lorraine.
The title of this second book is a play on words: of course the nautical meaning of wakes immediately comes to mind as does the meaning associated with the Christian custom of death; but Ms. Archer also uses the word throughout the book to represent the tumultuous changes that many of the characters choose to make in their lives within the context of their indelible previous summer's relationships.
